Background: Over 30 years experience as an Educator (Can't tell you the exact number, otherwise you'd be able to guess my age)

 

Where I've taught: MOE Schools at Primary, Secondary and JC Level 

Subjects taught: English, Math, Science, Computing, Project Work 

Right Before TLE: Head of Department of Knowledge Skills in JCs (including RJC and PJC) 

 

Why TLE? 

Having taught many batches of 17 & 18-year-old teenagers Project Work, I've noticed a lack of Executive Function skills in our students. What struck me most was that these skills are not as forthcoming when trying to develop them at the JC level. I believe these crucial Executive Function skills need to be taught at an early age so that it becomes almost second nature to our kids, which gives them the foundation to cope with a demanding academic curriculum as well as being able to work in teams and prepare for the real world.

 

Awards: Distinction in School Practice (NIE), Long Service Award (MOE)

 

Education: Degree in Computer Science, University of Waikato, New Zealand 

 

Dream Job: I'm living my dream job as a pre-school Teacher! 

 

Fun Facts: 

- Married with 2 grown children, a doctor and a lawyer

- In my spare time, I do aerobics, kick-boxing and body combat to the latest hits 

- Can't swim or cycle to save my life 

- Was a finalist in Mrs Singapore Pageant - I rule on the stage and in the classroom
